Hello,

I am vehemently opposed to the Environmental Compliance Approval (Air and Noise) that Heidelberg Materials has made application to for the following reasons:

1. The cement plant is surrounded by residential and rural properties and is situated in a narrow body of water. All properties and Picton Bay will be directly impacted by the emissions and chemicals coming from the plant. The cement plant is not situated on a large, open body of water such as St. Mary’s Cement plant.

2. Noise. The Conclusion of the Acoustic Assessment Report conducted by Golder in Nov 2022 stated that the “predictive analysis indicates the noise emissions, associated with the Facility general operations, are expected to be above the applicable MECP sound level limits.” As stated above, Picton Bay is a narrow bay and all noise is magnified over water. If the noise reports say that the excepted noise levels are to be be above the MECP sound level limits, this application should be denied. How can this application be approved with no regard to the residents that will be exposed to the noise 24/7 that is above guidelines set for safety.
