I am writing to share a number of concerns that I have in connection with the permit request made by 2706913 Ontario Inc., better known as the Cedar Crescent Village (CCV) beach development in Saugeen Shores.
In terms of human impact, the CCV building site is located directly across the street from a residential neighbourhood. Many of these homes have paid to install sandpoint systems for their watering needs; will this permit (if granted) have a negative impact on the water flow available for the operation of these systems? Is it possible that these homes could also suffer foundation cracks as a consequence of ground-shifting caused by this "dewatering"? In addition, there is the potential for excessive noise pollution resulting from these "de-watering" pumps running on the CCV site over the course of the build. Will limits be put on the hours that these pumps will be allowed to run, if this permit is granted?
As far as environmental impact is concerned, there are underground streams located near the CCV site, one of which is a conduit for brown trout to access Lake Huron. Has the possible impact of this permit (if granted) on these streams and local wildlife been taken into consideration?
I strongly encourage the Ministry to thoroughly examine these and all other concerns submitted to it by the public before making a final decision on this permit request. Thank you.
