I am adamantly opposed to this application. Environmental studies have not been completed. Oceans and Fisheries have been previously contacted about interference with a spawning stream to the right of the application. The stream is a known spawning stream of brown trout and empties into Lake Huron. The town placed fencing at the opening to Lake Huron and were ordered to remove. Saugeen Shores has also been warned about using above recommended salt content on roads. Where will the dewatered water go; back into the lake with a high salt content? There are serious concerns about the underwater stream system for spawning fish. Homeowners have legitimate concerns of property damage. How does this affect their sand points, foundations and what noise issues will result? Many people live close to this build. Their concerns have never been addressed by our local Council. There seems to be a constant stonewalling going on.
This build was shoved down taxpayers throats. No referendum was done, and no dialogue was conducted other than a timed three minute comment with no comment given in response.
It has been made clear to the public that our local Conservation Authority has been ignored and made irrelevant through policy loopholes. We are depending on oversight by some body at some point.
The fact that a numbered company represents this shows the state of no personal accountability for any decision in this process. Hundreds of dollars in Freedom of Information requests have been paid to get even the basic information about what is being proposed.
This build was granted a 50 year unprecedented lease with no greater community consent. It is a shameful example of how a natural area can be claimed for commercial development. In my opinion it needs to be investigated by the Provincial Ombudsman.
