Dear Kim Benner, District Planner:
We, the Balm Beach Community Association, wish to state our objection to the application for
Extension/Expansion of the Teedon Pit, Darby Rd, Waverley ON. We are concerned about the protection
of the Alliston Aquifer, which recharges on this moraine. Removing the filter for the world's
purest groundwater will jeopardize the quality and quantity of this drinking water resource.
We have observed, through statements and actions, by the Applicant-local Council-County Staff and
the Ministry of the Environment, that they lack awareness and resources to address the protection
of this pristine aquifer. We understand that gravel is necessary for our infrastructure. But, this
site is the same area in which Site 41 was fought. It was considered to be an extremely sensitive
site environmentally then and continues to remain so today.
In conclusion, there are many sites which contain gravel; aquifers, with the quality and importance
of the Alliston Aquifer, are extremely rare.
Sincerely,
John Campbell, President, Director
Mike Boyko, Director
Robin Pereira, Director
