There are major concerns with Lafarge Canada applying to vary the tonnage condition of the current license for the Mann Quarry to be increased from 900,000 to UNLIMITED. This is not an increase, this is a license to absolutely deplete the resources. An upper limit must be set. Read more

Removing the maximum to allow for unlimited tonnage seems irresponsible and potentially dangerous. Limits allow for companies to plan for waste product treatment and limit externalities of extraction activites. Read more

Growing up around this quarry, I observed first-hand the impact of a much smaller quarry at that time - changes to the water table, blasting, truck traffic, dust etc. This quarry has expanded significantly since then, with concomitant impacts. Read more

This proposal should not be approved. We need to be monitoring our extraction of natural resources to promote sustainability. Private companies are making money that they are not reinvesting into our environment and this will lead to a poor future for our natural resources. Read more
