Proposal details

The following are some of the major components of this closure plan that need to be addressed by the proponent:The current state of the crown pillar stability is unknown

  • there is no financial assurance for the rehabilitation of waste rock areas
  • there is no financial assurance for the rehabilitation of tailings areas
  • there are no surface water or ground water monitoring programs for the property
  • the shaft caps on the property do not meet mine rehabilitation code requirements
  • there is no protection in place securing the open pits
  • the waste rock and tailings on site have not been characterized in accordance with the mine rehabilitation code
  • there is no physical stability monitoring program for the property
  • the re-vegetation program does not meet the requirements of the mine rehabilitation code

The required closure plan amendment with accompanying financial assurance will be submitted in a form and manner in accordance with Ontario Regulation 240/00, including the Mine Rehabilitation Code of Ontario.
