Decision details
Amendments to the Ontario Water Resources Act (OWRA) made on April 1, 2020 removed the need for a permit to take water for the construction or operation of a dam for the purposes of generating electricity.
This activity no longer requires a permit and none was issued.
The ministry advised the applicant that no permit was required on August 26, 2020.

This proposal is for an amendment to the existing Permit to Take Water No. 5738-ACGNAY for Namewaminikan Hydro Inc. for the purpose of generating hydroelectric power from Twin Falls, on the Namewaminikan River (locally known as the Sturgeon River) in the Municipality of Greenstone, District of Thunder Bay. Details of the proposed water takings are as follows:
