The Corporation of the City of Barrie – Environmental Compliance Unit (City) has reviewed the ERO Proposal (ERO #019-4761, MECP Ref #3263-C8TJLR) and has the following comments for the amendment to ECA No. A620200.
1. It is recommended that there be secondary containment for new single tank being installed as there are side mounted maintenance access holes. Should these access holes become compromised while the tank is full of industrial wastewater, the secondary containment device will capture the industrial waste that leaked, not allowing the material to impact City owned or natural assets.
2. In the Event there is a spill during the removal of old tanks and installation of the new tank, or during normal operating procedures, the City must be notified immediately. This includes spills that enter or impact City assets such as City owned ditches, storm drains, sewage works or onto Municipal Owned Property. Spills are to be reported to the City by calling Service Barrie at 705-726-4242.
3. All spills are to be reported to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Spills Action Centre at 1-800-268-6060.
