I have reviewed the proposal as concerned citizen who uses HWY-102 to recreate and travel to our vacation property on the West side of Burk Lake.
By all accounts the proposal does not seem to be too intrusive to the land, and does not indicate any line cutting or mechanized stripping.
My concern is that HWY-102 which is used by many of the residents of nearby properties to walk and cycle, will now be heavily used by Transition Metals Corp to transport personnel and equipment to and from the exploration side . The road has many blind corners and does not have a paved shoulder. The speed limit is 60km/hr but in my experience most industrial trucks do not follow the limit.
The turn into the exploration site has not been included in the package, but if it is located on a blind corner coupled with the increased traffic and the speed at which it is going, these all of which pose a potential safety concern in what is largely considered a "residential" area and not a thoroughfare. It has been shown that two-thirds of all “deadly accidents” happen on rural roads. (Transport Canada), and hopefully Transition Metals can select a safe entry point to the exploration site.
When Transition Metals Corp begins their work it would also be helpful for property owners in the area to be provided with information or notice of the high traffic times. Ie. If the start of the workday is 8am and trucks will be transporting staff and equipment (high traffic), I will avoid biking those times for biking on the road with my small children.
