Why are big/heavy industrial businesses allowed in a residential neighborhood? How could those who
approved the sale allow this intrusiveness to happen? Why don't they try to put themselves in the
residents' shoes? Do they know what we have to deal with on a daily basis? The bad odors, noise and
heavy traffic are hazardous and bad enough from the existing St. Helen. Now, they are allowing
another St. Helen to be added to this highly developed urban city area!!! How absurd!! How would
they feel if the slaughter house and big industries are allowed to be built right in front of their
houses?
Every day we hear and see all kinds of ads promoting "healthy city living"; how could the city
promote wellness, yet be so hypocritical??
We can't fully enjoy the walk around the parks or do our own outdoor activities, because:
- it is extremely unpleasant to be outdoors with the constant bad odors of rotting meat in the air
- it is unsafe to be out because of these giant trucks driving in and out on the surrounding
streets
- it is unhealthy to breathe the emissions and pollution released from these industries and their
giant 18-wheeler trucks
- it is awful to constantly deal with the loud noises from these industries, which are breaking
by-laws as they start their businesses as early as 6am!
- the trucks shake the entire house as they drive down the street; and create congestion. This
makes it difficult to get in and out of the driveways
The city has a commitment to protect and do what is best for its citizens; but for this very
neighborhood, that obligation has yet to be fulfilled!
