Any approved project should require the following:

No loss of category 1 or 2 habitat
Temporary fencing to keep turtles out of construction areas during work
Habitat connectivity is maintained through aquatic channels
Blanding’s Turtle awareness training of work staff
Restoration work uses only locally sourced and native species
Appropriate permanent fencing to keep turtles out of backyards and off roads
Creation and arrangements for maintaining artificial nesting sites near the wetland areas and
away from roads
Post-construction surveys to determine if there is any roadkill of Blanding’s Turtles
A cash donation equivelent to 10% of the profit of the project to a local environmental group for turtle conservation
Educational materials on the Blanding’s Turtle to be provided to all new home buyers
