I am writing to express my concern with Triple M Metal’s proposal. I am extremely concerned about the proposed 91% manganese emissions rate, and it’s potential neighbourhood neurotoxic health effects, not only in isolation but also taken cumulatively with other industry sources in the area. I’m also concerned about the carcinogenic iron oxide and PM 2.5 and or particulate emissions coming from this facility and their isolated and cumulative air quality effects on local residents. Also, there has recently been a fire at this facility due to the storing of combustible materials against regulations, which the company appears to be attempting to adopt as a cheaper alternative to proper storage methods and noise reduction adaptations. The emissions as outlined in the proposal warrant actual physical study before approval should ever be granted, and the recent safety negligence of the company shows we cannot simply take their word that actions they undertake are safe.
