I would like to raise my concern that Coco Paving would be responsible for monitoring for their own toxins and contaminants in the water treatment process. I understand that 3 samplings must occur in spring summer and fall, from 3 designated locations. They send their samples to a lab, then report the results to MECP annually. The process seems susceptible to inaccurate reporting... an operator could submit samples that were pre-filtered, altered or obtained off-site, for instance with no third party confirming the collection. Self reporting may be the process for most quarries but seems like a bad idea. It would be acceptable as long as an independent third party did the monitoring.
