We are making regulatory changes to Regulation 347: General – Waste Management under the Environmental Protection Act. The changes capture registration and reporting requirements to support electronic service delivery and require the regulated community to provide reporting information to the Resource Recovery and Productivity Authority.

We are moving forward with a new fee regulation, ‘Subject Waste Program Regulation’, under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act. It outlines requirements that the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority must adhere to when establishing its fees related to hazardous waste reporting.

The ministry is not proceeding with the proposed Land Use Compatibility Guideline as a result of feedback received through the Environmental Registry. The current D-Series guidelines for land use compatibility will remain in effect. Any potential future updates to land use compatibility guidance would be posted as a new proposal on the Registry.

The minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 for a residential home development that may adversely impact Dwarf Hackberry and Eastern Hog-nosed Snake, which are species at risk. The permit includes actions to benefit the species, minimize adverse effects and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.

We have issued a new Permit to Take Water No. 2231-CCTVV4 on April 5, 2022, which cancels and replaces Permit to Take Water No. 8237-ANSPTE for Greenfield Global Inc. for industrial purposes located in the Township of Johnstown, Ontario.

An Environmental Compliance Approval with the Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise) has been granted to Bartek Ingredients Inc., a chemical manufacturing facility located in the City of Hamilton, Ontario.

This approval is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) for Lafarge Canada Inc. The facility is an aggregate depot with a portable crusher and is located at 2531 Cawthra Road, Mississauga, Ontario.

This decision is for a new Permit to Take Water for Leaside Junction Inc. to take water for dewatering and for long term drainage purposes. Water will be taken from a well (sandpoint/wellpoint) located in the City of Toronto, Ontario. Permit to Take Water No. 3356-CD2QZC was issued on April 5, 2022.

An Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) has been granted to Bruno's Contracting (Thunder Bay) Limited for the operation of a mobile hot mix asphalt plant throughout the Province of Ontario.

A new Permit to Take Water No. 1722-CD2PTE has been issued to PCL Constructors Canada Inc. on April 4, 2022 for dewatering/construction purposes located in Ottawa, Ontario. The new Permit to Take Water has an expiry date of April 1, 2027.
