Proposal details

This proposal is for an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No.9915-B2UK7G with Limited Operational Flexibility for The International Group, Inc., a facility manufacturing specialty waxes for various industrial and consumer based products, located at 50 Salome Drive in Scarborough, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include:

  • boilers
  • burners
  • diesel fired emergency generator
  • cogeneration equipment

The amendment is to include foots oil, with a maximum production limit of 45,000 kilograms per year. This will be in addition to the previously approved 90,000 kilograms per year production limit for fully refined wax.

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

  • methyl ethyl ketone
  • naphtha
  • suspended particulate matter
  • toluene
  • nitrogen oxides

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air).

The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
