Effects of consultation

Comments relevant to the water taking proposal were considered as part of the review of the application. The main concerns raised were regarding the following:

  • potential for drainage of water onto neighbouring a property from a surplus water taking at Angus Glen
  • potential negative impacts to the Redside Dace habitat within Bruce Creek which flows through the a property south to the Angus Glen site

The ministry considered these concerns in the review and conducted a site visit. It was determined that:

  1. There was no indication of drainage or potential drainage pathways to the neighbouring property as the groundwater wells are both south and downgradient of the property.
  2. The irrigation ponds are not connected to Bruce Creek and there are no direct groundwater runoff to Bruce Creek.
  3. The Redside Dace habitat within the aquatic system of the creek cannot be impacted by groundwater takings.
