Decision details
A decision was made on August 22, 2024 to approve, with one modification, Official Plan Amendment 12 to the County of Bruce Official Plan adopted pursuant to sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act by By-law 2022-092. Notice of this Decision was issued on August 23, 2024 to the County of Bruce.
The adopted Official Plan Amendment was reviewed for consistency with provincial policies, conformity to provincial plans, and regard for matters of provincial interest set out in the Planning Act.
One modification requested by Bruce County staff and recommended by Ministry staff would future proof the official plan amendment in anticipation of the Provincial Planning Statement coming into effect.
County of Bruce Official Plan Amendment 12 implements population and employment forecasts, as well as allocates population and employment to the County’s local municipalities to the year 2046. It also amends growth management planning policies to be consistent with the Provincial Policy Statement, 2020.
Official Plan Amendment 12 applies to all lands within the County of Bruce.

Appeals are not allowed
Pursuant to subsection 17(36.5) of the Planning Act, the decision of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding Official Plan Amendment 12, adopted in accordance with sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act, is not subject to appeal.

On October 20, 2022, the County of Bruce adopted Official Plan Amendment 12 by By-law 2022-092. The official plan amendment is now before the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision in accordance with Sections 17 and 26 of the Planning Act.
Official Plan Amendment 12 is phase 1 of the County of Bruce's official plan review to implement in part the policies of the Provincial Policy Statement. Official Plan Amendment 12 proposes to amend growth management policies and establish a growth management framework to guide development in the county to the year 2046.
If approved, the policy changes of Official Plan Amendment 12 would apply across the County.
