Why consultation isn't required
This bulletin is for information only, as a closure plan amendment is not an instrument under the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993. The Ministry of Mines is posting this bulletin to the Environmental Registry to keep the public informed of changes to mining projects in Ontario. Bulletin details
The proposed changes to the project are as follows:
New structures / facilities
- two new open pits (west pit and north pit);
- mine rock and overburden stockpiles;
- water management and treatment facilities;
- offsetting / compensation measures for fisheries and Species at Risk (SAR);
- additional local infrastructure and associated support facilities.
Alteration to existing DLM facilities
- extension of the DLM main pit western limit (main pit extension);
- modification of the existing DLM water management system;
- modification to the footprint of the existing / approved DLM stockpiles (MRS2, OVB5); and
- realignment of a section of the main access road to accommodate new stockpiles.
