This approval is for an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval No. 7363-9UPJAB for Fusion-Thetics Inc. for the solid non-hazardous waste transfer and processing facility located at 675 Woodside Street in Fergus, Ontario.
Fusion-Thetics Inc. is permitted to receive up to 60 tonnes per week of used coffee pods for processing and transfer, with a maximum storage capacity of 65 tonnes at any one time.
Fusion-Thetics Inc will receive additional waste categories at the site, including industrial, commercial, and institutional waste (IC&I waste) that is pre-sorted and separately packaged. All incoming waste will be:
- off-loaded from vehicles that arrive at the site
- weighed
- inventoried
The waste will be stored in designated locations at the facility prior to being loaded into a closed shipping truck for transport to a licensed recycling facility or waste management facility, as required.
Used coffee pods will continue to be received and processed at the site. All waste received will be non-putrescible. There are no changes to the quantity of waste currently permitted to be accepted, stored, and transferred at the facility.
The facility will operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with limitations on yard (outdoor) noises during the evenings and overnight.

1. Prepare your application

What is considered
The appeal body will consider the following two questions in deciding whether to grant you leave to appeal:
- is there is good reason to believe that no reasonable person, with respect to the relevant law and to any government policies developed to guide decisions of that kind, could have made the decision?
- could the decision you wish to appeal result in significant harm to the environment?
