Original proposal
Proposal details
The proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval for industrial stormwater management works serving Amazon Canada Fulfillment Services, Inc. at 580 Industrial Road, London, Ontario, Canada.
The proposed work consists of developing an existing vegetated area to expand a large parking area only, with no building expansions or alterations to the existing building structure. Due to the expansion of the parking lot area into existing vegetated area, additional surface runoff will discharge off-site and would require additional water quality and quantity control to not cause detrimental impacts to the downstream outlet.
The objective for these stormwater management facilities is to provide water quality treatment and water quantity control in accordance with the city’s requirements for development within the City of London. The proposed facilities will consist of an underground chamber storage system (StormTech SC-740 or approved equivalent) with the capacity to accept surface runoff up to and including the 100-year storm event for the proposed parking lot area, and provide water quality treatment prior to discharging downstream.
The outlet of the system will be to the existing storm sewer system, which will be maintained to collect runoff from the existing roof drainage and parking lot area. LittaTrap catch basin filters (or approved equivalent) will also be installed in existing catch basin openings (where depth to invert is greater than 500 millimetres) to provide additional water quality treatment of runoff to the existing storm sewer system.
An existing oil/grit separator (Wilkinson unit) will be maintained to provide further water quality treatment for the majority of the site. The existing discharge control and location (municipal servicing on Industrial Road, eventually discharging into Pottersburg Creek) will be maintained to regulate discharge as per city’s requirements.
