Decision details
A change to the licence condition for Aggregate Resource Act (ARA) Licence No. 4296 was approved by the Regional Director on September 15, 2021.
The approval allows the licensee to increase the number of tonnes of aggregate that may be removed in a calendar year from 100,000 tonnes annually to 250,000 tonnes annually. This increase addresses the higher demand for aggregates in the area.

Effects of consultation
No comments were received in response to the Environmental Registry notice. As a result of the ARA notification process, the City of Ottawa submitted a letter stating that they had no concerns with the proposed tonnage increase.

Brendon Developments Incorporated has applied to vary a condition of the current licence to authorize an increase in the number of tonnes of aggregate to be removed in a calendar year.
The current licence condition allows for the removal of a maximum of 100,000 tonnes of material annually.The licensee has requested that the tonnage limit be increased to 250,000 tonnes annually.
This increase has been requested by the licensee to address the higher demand for aggregates in the area.

Brendon Developments Incorporated operates the licensed site under the authority of licence No. 4296 under the Aggregate Resources Act. In total 22.9 hectares are currently licensed as a pit.

The proposal request for this licence is being circulated within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. Additionally, notification of this application has been forwarded to the City of Ottawa, for comment.
