Proposal details

This proposal is to amend Environmental Compliance Approval (waste disposal site) No. 3643-7XXQ9Q for a used tire recycling facility located in the City of Brantford, County of Brant.

The waste transfer and processing facility has a total area of 6.1 hectares, and processes used tires into crumb rubber.

The facility is currently to operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with maximum tire processing limits of:

  • 400 tonnes per day
  • 85,000 tonnes per year
  • 4,380 tonnes on-site storage

The amendment requested is for the facility to operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with increased maximum tire processing limits of:

  • 600 tonnes per day
  • 130,000 tonnes per year
  • 6,570 tonnes on-site storage

The application also requests approval of outdoor activities such as:

  • de-rimming
  • de-beading
  • cutting large tires with a hydraulic shear
