Decision details

A change to Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) Licence No. 3219 was approved by the Minister on February 22, 2022.

The licence was amended to align the conditions of ARA licence No. 3219 with the proposed expansion site’s conditions (ARA Licence No. 625101). The combined annual tonnage condition is 700,000 tonnes.

The combined tonnage condition was proposed by the licensee to address objections to the new licence application. The Ontario Land Tribunal has directed the Minister to issue new licence No. 625101, subject to the amendment of licence No. 3219 for consistent licence conditions (Case no: MM160055).

A copy of the approved site plan for this licensed site can be obtained from the ministry office and contact identified below.

Proposal details

Application has been made by VicDom Sand and Gravel (Ontario) Ltd. to amend a licence condition on Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) Licence No. 3219. Currently, that licence allows for the removal of up to 554,000 tonnes of aggregate from the site per calendar year. The amendment would implement a combined tonnage limit with an adjacent new licence No. 625101 that would allow up to 700,000 tonnes of aggregate to be removed annually from the 2 sites combined.

The combined tonnage condition was proposed by the licensee to address objections to the new licence application. The Local Planning Appeals Tribunal (LPAT) has directed the Minister to issue new Licence No. 625101, subject to the amendment of No. 3219 for consistent licence conditions.

Other information

VicDom Sand and Gravel (Ontario) Ltd. currently operates the site under the authority of licence No. 3219 under the Aggregate Resources Act (ARA). In total 22.68 hectares are currently licenced as a pit.
