The property is within the boundaries of the City of Timmins, Ontario. The Redstone Property consists of three mining leases (LEA-107434, LEA-107435 and LEA-107436 consisting of 63 claims that cover 1,002 hectares. The property is accessible via an all-weather gravel road from South Porcupine. The property is zoned as Agricultural Wilderness in the City of Timmins official plan.

Decision details
On October 22, 2020 the ministry will proceed to file a Closure Plan Amendment for the Redstone Property near approximately 22 kilometres southeast of the City of Timmins, Ontario. The property is within the boundaries of the City of Timmins, Ontario. The Redstone Property consists of three mining leases consisting of 63 claims that cover 1,002 hectares. The property is accessible via an all-weather gravel road from South Porcupine. The property is zoned as AW (Agricultural Wilderness) in the City of Timmins official plan.
This permit will allow Northern Sun Mining Corporation to custom milling operations at the Redstone Mill. This will allow for ores from outside sources to be milled on-site.
The Closure Plan Amendment was filed once all Indigenous communities and the public had the opportunity to provide comment or raise their concerns.

This Closure Plan Amendment purposed for the Redstone Mine property, which includes both the Redstone Mine and the Redstone Mill facilities (hereinafter the Redstone Site) as a complied document with the requirements of Ontario Regulation 204/00 by documenting project changes that have been implemented since the filing of the previous Closure Plans in 2006 and 1995.
