Decision details

Approval was granted by the Regional Director on December 18, 2020. The sequence in which extraction takes place has resulted in changes to the operations and rehabilitation plans. The licensee will now extract in a southerly direction before proceeding to extract in a northerly direction.

Proposal details

Lafarge Canada Inc. has requested to amend the sequence in which extraction takes place on the licensed site by extracting in Phase 3, prior to Phase 2. The approved site plan currently shows Phase 2 extraction proceeding in a northerly direction. The licensee is proposing to extract in a southerly direction (Phase 3) before proceeding to extract in a northerly direction (Phase 2).

Other Information

Lafarge Canada Inc. currently operates the site under the authority of licence No. 2908 under the Aggregate Resources Act. In total 143.6 hectares are currently licensed as a quarry. The annual tonnage condition is unlimited.

The proposal request for this amendment is being circulated within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Kingston Field Office (Peterborough District). Additionally, notification of this application has been sent to the City of Kingston, County of Frontenac, Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority, Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks, and the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.
