Decision details
A change to the site plan of Aggregate Resources Act Licence No. 625697 was approved by the Regional Director on October 23, 2020.
The removal of a 2.1 hectare woodlot in the north east corner of the licensed area will result in the setback being reduced to 15m from the licence boundary, except where there is a common boundary agreement with adjacent ARA licence No. 625910, in which case the setback will be eliminated (0 metres).
Effects of consultation
No comments were received in response to the Environmental Registry notice.
Two (2) comments were received through the ARA consultation process. One indicated no concerns while the other proposed compensation for the woodlot being removed. This compensation measure was identified through a minor site plan amendment on another licence issued to GHBLAF Holdings Inc. A decision was made to proceed with the approval of this proposal.

Proposal details
An application has been made by GHBLAF Holdings Inc. to amend the current site plan to reduce the excavation setbacks in the north east corner of the licensed site. The area in which the setbacks are proposed to be reduced will allow extraction at a location identified to be a woodland, significant wildlife habitat and habitat of an endangered species. In support of the proposal, the licensee has provided a current assessment of the natural heritage features and proposed mitigation measures. It is proposed that the setback along the licenced boundary be 15 metres, except where there is a common boundary agreement with adjacent ARA licence (#625910) in which case the setback is proposed to be eliminated (0 metres).
Other information
GHBLAF Holdings Inc. holds Licence #625697 under the Aggregate Resources Act. In total 61.5 hectares are currently licenced as a pit above the water table. The annual tonnage condition is 950,000 tonnes. Aggregate extraction has not yet taken place on the licensed site.
