Proposal details

Description of instrument

This proposal is for an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval No. 6747-8X9QZW for GeoSource Energy Inc. an installer of vertical closed loop geothermal systems. GeoSource Energy Inc. operates across Ontario drilling boreholes and installing closed loop geothermal heat exchangers in these boreholes.

This proposal is to amend the existing work plan to increase the maximum drilling depth up to 350 metres, and to increase the maximum borehole to 25.4 centimetres (10 inches) nominal diameter in overburden, and to 20.32 centimetres (8 inches) nominal diameter in bedrock.

This proposal is supported by a work plan prepared in accordance with Ontario Regulation 98/12 (Ground Source Heat Pumps) which includes measures taken to protect the public and the environment in the event that hazardous gas is encountered. The multi-site Environmental Compliance Approval allows the installer to install vertical closed loop geothermal systems at locations throughout the province.
