Proposal details
This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (Waste) for the use and operation of a waste processing site with a total site area of 1.75 hectares, within an 8,200 square metre building and accepting 3,300 tonnes annually.
The facility will accept the residual donation materials from the collection boxes and other store locations that have not been sold to allow for further sorting and material recovery for recycling opportunities not available through their retail stores. The collected materials are all sourced through their donation programs however these are materials that have not sold through the retail stores, broken items, and are materials that have value as recyclable materials when baled or as a commodity product.
There are no hazardous waste or municipal waste transfer activities associated with the processing undertaken at this site. The total amount of waste and processed materials stored at the site will not exceed 125 tonnes at any time. Processes to be used include manual sorting and hydraulic baling. The waste processing is to serve the Province of Ontario. The hours of operation are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
