Description of instrument 

Application has been made by O. Bettschen Construction Limited to amalgamate Licence #2409 and Licence #625121 as one operation, licensed under #2409. As part of the proposal, a reduced tonnage condition to allow no more than 250,000 tonnes of aggregate to be removed from the amalgamated Licence #2409 in any calendar year has been requested. Currently, the annual tonnage condition for Licence #2409 is unlimited and the tonnage condition for Licence #625121 is 250,000 tonnes in any calendar year.

Other information

O. Bettschen Construction Limited currently operates the two sites under the authority of Licences # 2409 and # 625121 under the Aggregate Resources Act. In total 16.5 hectares are currently licenced.

In addition to the request to reduce the tonnage condition, O. Bettschen Construction Limited has also made application for a major site plan amendment to approve an amalgamated site plan which proposes the final depth of extraction to 146 masl and rehabilitation to a pond.

The proposal request is being circulated within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Peterborough District, Kingston Field Office. Additionally, notification of this application has been forwarded to the Municipality of South Frontenac, County of Frontenac, Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, and all landowners residing within 120 meters of the sites for comment.
