Description of instrument
An application to amend the Niagara Escarpment Plan was received to re-designate Escarpment Rural Area to Mineral Resource Extraction Area to permit mineral aggregate resource extraction both above and below the water table within a 26-hectare area on a 40.5-hectare lot located at Part Lot 12, Concession 2 East of Hurontario Street (17736 Heart Lake Road) in the Town of Caledon, Region of Peel.

Other public consultation opportunities
The proposed Amendment will be circulated to affected Ministries and relevant municipalities in accordance with Section 10(1)(a) of the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act. This notice will also be sent directly to landowners within 120 metres of the subject property, and to relevant stakeholder groups. Section 10(1)(b) of the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act requires publication of a notice in newspapers having general circulation as considered appropriate. Notices will be published in the Orangeville Banner and Caledon Citizen. A notice will also be posted on the Niagara Escarpment Commission website.
