Decision details
A change to the site plan for ARA licence No. 624962 was approved by the Regional Director on March 16, 2022.
The approval allows Preston Sand and Gravel Company Ltd. to change the final depth of extraction from above the water table to below the water table and to change the final rehabilitation of the site from agricultural usage and trees to include a 14 hectare pond.
The depth of extraction on-site will change from 318.2 metres above sea level (m.a.s.l.) to 302 m.a.s.l.

One (1) comment was received in response to the Environmental Registry of Ontario notice. The main concerns were related to:
- noise
- dust
- duration of operation
- recycling
Forty-nine (49) comments were received in response to the ARA consultation process. The main concerns were related to:
- impacts to property values
- visual aesthetics
- hydrogeology
- drinking water and wells
- endangered species
- loss of farmland
- improper notification
- noise
- dust and rehabilitation
- traffic volumes
- the importation of asphalt and concrete for recycling
The applicant provided additional information and made changes to the site plans in order to address the concerns raised.
