This notice was updated on January 13, 2021 to advise the public that there has been no change to the status of the proposal and it is still being considered. No additional opportunity for comment is being provided for at this time.
This notice was updated on March 27, 2018 to advise the public that this application under the Aggregate Resources Act is subject to the outcome of an Ontario Municipal Board hearing and is therefore, still under consideration. Please refer to http://elto.gov.on.ca/omb/ for information on scheduled hearings of the Ontario Municipal Board.
The proposal notice for this application was updated on January 26, 2016 to advise the public that this application under the Aggregate Resources Act has been referred by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) for a hearing.
Description of instrument
A. Miron Topsoil Ltd. has applied for a Class A licence, Categories 3 and 4 (pit and quarry above water) to excavate aggregate from a pit and quarry on a site of 29.5 hectares in size. The application is to expand the licence area that is currently being operated as a Class B licence, Category 7 (pit above water) to a Class A licence. The annual tonnage condition applied for is unlimited tonnes.
Other information
A. Miron Topsoil Ltd. currently holds an existing Class B licence number 620001 to operate a pit above water on a smaller piece of this property 5.8 hectare in size. This new application is required to seek approval for the expansion of the current operation from a Class B licence to a Class A licence and the operations of a quarry (consolidated material) on the same site.
Site plan information is available to view at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Parry Sound District, Bracebridge Area office. Making an appointment to view the information is recommended to ensure aggregate staff will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Comments received through the Environmental Registry should not be construed as an objection under the Aggregate Resources Act. in accordance with section 4.0 – Notification and Consultation Standards of the Provincial Standards 1.0 under the ARA. To be considered as a formal objector, individuals need to contact the MNR person specified on this notice to determine how to submit an objection.
Other public consultation opportunities
As specified in the Aggregate Resources Act, written notice concerning this application was delivered to landowners within 120 metres of the proposed licensed boundary; an information sign, giving notice to the public of this application, was erected at the proposed site; and a Notice of Application and Notice of Public Information Session appeared in the local newspaper, the Almaguin news. A public information session was held on July 8, 2010 at the Emsdale Community Centre from 7p.m. until 9p.m.
The application for this proposal will also be circulated within the Ministry of Natural Resources Parry Sound District, The Ministry of the Environment, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Hydro One, and Bell. Additionally, notification of this application has been forwarded to the Township of Perry for comment.
