I am wholeheartedly opposed to the cancellation of cap and trade. The consensus of opinion among climate experts, economists etc. is that in order to decarbonize, the best first step is to price carbon. We do not have time to back peddle on this. For the sake of all people in Ontario we need to act swiftly to curb climate change. Keep cap and trade in place while developing even more efficient ways to do this. We have a collective responsibility to pass on a liveable world to our grandkids.

I find it odd that conservative government always rejects environmental reform in favour of the economy, especially when the economy could greatly benefit from a new green industry boom. Why be the premier who delayed that boom and instead be the voice of the future, prosperous Canada.

The cap and trade cancellation act ends the cap and trade program. It discusses how a new program will be developed to deal with climate change. However it does not set a timeline or any any type of measurable for the new program. That is not acceptable. A plan must be a priority of the government. Lire davantage
