Kuntz Electroplating Inc. - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 1160-9H4KLS with Limited Operational Flexibility for Kuntz Electroplating Inc., an electroplating facility located in the City of Kitchener, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include:

• a hoist long parts line
• wastewater treatment plant
• hoist die-cast electroplating line
• specialty line
• powder coating system, and
• hoist anodizing line

The amendment includes renewing the Limited Operational Flexibility, and adding new unit heaters and a hoist anodizing plating line.

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• carbon monoxide
• hydrochloric acid
• nickel
• nitrogen oxides
• particulate matter
• sulphur dioxide

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
