NOVA CHEMICALS CORPORATION - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is to amend an Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) with Limited Operational Flexibility No. A-500-5141957442 issued to NOVA CHEMICALS CORPORATION a polyethylene manufacturing facility located in the Township of St. Clair.

This amendment is for the replacement of the burners in the two existing boilers with Low-NOx burners. Contaminant emissions to the atmosphere include:

• benzene
• benzo(a)pyrene
• carbon monoxide
• nitrogen oxides
• particulate matter, and
• sulphur dioxide

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
