Détails de la proposition
Story Environmental Inc. proposes to operate a mobile treatment system to treat and manage water which accumulates in the Advanced Exploration Pit at the Crawford Nickel Project site, approximately 35 kilometres north of Timmins, Ontario. The operation of this mobile treatment system will be approved under a Notice of Site-Specific Change under Story Environmental Inc.’s Environmental Compliance Approval No. 8566-CASQZH.
This treatment system has been designed to operate at approximately 4 litres per second, but may operate at 13 litres per second during storm events. The treated water will be discharged to the West Buskegau River.
The system will consist of the following treatment steps:
- pH adjustment to precipitate metals
- coagulation
- flocculation
- clarification
- filtration
It may also require final pH adjustment before discharge to ensure it meets the effluent limits established as part of the Assimilative Capacity Assessment. Daily, weekly, and monthly monitoring will take place to ensure that the system adheres to the requirements of the Environmental Compliance Approval and the Assimilative Capacity Study.
The system will operate for a short-term, from late January 2024 to the end of April 2024. The Assimilative Capacity Study for the discharge of this water to the West Buskegau indicates that there will be no significant adverse effects to the river as a result of the discharge from this mobile treatment system.
