I find it very suspicious that when the Town mentions the Concrete Plant, it always describes it as a "portable temporary Concrete Batch Plant" (see attached minutes) on the one hand, in order for it to meet the very vague description of Permitted Use in the Town's Official Plan but when you read the Proponent's Proposal on the ERO it details a Concrete Batching Plant consisting of four dust collectors, three storage silos, one propane fueled boiler, material conveyors, and various material handling operations, with a production limit of 800 cubic meters of concrete per day.

In my opinion, this PROPOSAL for a Ready-Mix Plant is not realistically PORTABLE in anyway shape or form and is definitely NOT TEMPORARY given that a TIMELINE for CNL (Canadian Nuclear Laboratories) is measured in DECADES and not years which means that if this is approved...then all the Residents of Chalk River Ontario will be subjected to LONG TERM EXPOSURE to Portland Cement, particulate matter, nitrogen oxides and other products of combustion emitted from this proposed CNL Concrete Plant.

If this is the case then we will need someone in Government who cares enough about us to say "HEY! Wait a minute here...this PROPOSAL is not really PORTABLE and it will be around for a LONG TIME because of all the Construction Activity at CNL in the coming DECADES. It should warrant a complete and thorough ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT."

This Proposal might be good for the ECONOMY $$$ but we also can't forget our People's Health or permit even more unnecessary ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION to our Planet!!!

If CNL really needs all this CONCRETE then it SHOULD build a Concrete Plant on their own Property or buy it from the many Suppliers that are already established in the Ottawa Valley who are less than 45 minutes away and who already do business with them. (see LINK below)
