I am concerned about the removal of over 3.8M litres of water per day from this proposed site close to Lake Huron (note that the proposed development site is in a different location than any of the engineering studies with the permit proposal contemplated). Trying to understand the magnitude of 3.8M litres, I searched google for a description – basically this application asks for permission to move over an Olympic swimming pool worth of water into Lake Huron each day via the municipal storm systems. I believe this will negatively impact existing users of this recreational beach and potentially impact the structures on adjacent properties (note that the structures are closer now that the proposed site has been moved).
Furthermore, this dewatering will harm to the environment. The potential impact on water levels, lake water quality, non-renewable sand, aquatic life, and other wildlife in this part of the Great Lakes ecosystem will be irreversible and are entirely preventable at this stage of the development process. The environment in this area must be proactively protected and not monitored for harm after a discretionary development's dewatering is underway. I urge you not to allow this dewatering due to its negative impact on our community and its harm to the environment.
