Mining should not be allowed to take place in an area rich with biodiversity, important stands of Ontario's oldest and largest Red Pines in addition to many old growth White Pine. The value of Wolf Lake is priceless and is best left intact for future generations to enjoy its wilderness experience.
Wolf Lake offers more value to the province in protection as a nature reserve where people can recreate in nature without the destructive side effects of a mining operation. Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, ATV are all popular activities near Wolf Lake. This would be forever disturbed if mining were to take place at this proposed site.
Recreational activities around Wolf Lake support the local economy from visitors shopping at local stores, restaurants, hotels, and outfitters.
Ontario's old growth forests are not a renewable resource within our lifetime and need to be valued while still standing. They offer a view into the past and hold opportunities for research, education, hosts for biodiversity, and storage of carbon.
The approval of this mining permit would degrade a significant resource better left intact, and protected for the integrity of the environment.
