As a resident that lives near the St. Helen's facility, I am strongly opposed to this proposal. St. Helen’s Meat Packers Ltd. is in very close proximity to places where people live, shop, and eat. It is also adjacent to Lavender Creek, and the walking trail that runs along the creek. The odour and noise produced by this facility currently already adversely impact the community’s enjoyment of the neighbourhood. However, what’s more concerning is the toxic chemical emissions that the facility generates, and the host of negative impacts that these emissions can have to human health. Any increase to these atmospheric emissions would be a detriment to the surrounding community.
