Regarding the Eastern Hognose snake.
If there's an existing breeding population in the area, a material benefit to that population would be the creation amphibian habitat in the form of a small wetland to provide prey species.
In addition, a hibernaculum constructed on higher ground would provide adequate overwintering.
Although Buckthorn is an invasive species, it's removal should not be used as leverage as an overall benefit to the Eastern Hognose Snake species.
