I am against this proposal. This area is akin to the Muskokas in S. Ontario. This is Cottage Country in Northwestern Ontario. People have built homes & families in this region for generations. Ontario citizens have invested millions of dollars into this region by building residential homes on the lake. Residential construction & development has grown exponentially in this region over the past several decades. This will stop immediately if mineral exploration projects like this are approved in this area. Generations of people have been living here in harmony with nature. Our intention, like that of our predecessors and that of our children and grandchildren is to continue to do so. It is unethical to sacrifice the quality of life for the local residents who live in this area (and have done so for generations) in the futile attempt to satisfy the insatiable greed of a few. If I were the Premier of Ontario, I would protect the interests of the many residential property owners who live in this area (many of whom are Conservative voters) rather than the small few who exploit this area for their own personal profit such as Transition Metals Corp. There are better areas for a mineral project like this, and certainly not in the middle of cottage country in Norther Ontario. Practices such as digging out gravel, mining and other forms of “resource extraction” should NOT be permitted to undermine the lives of Ontario residents who live in this area, or the endangered species whose homes are located here. The use and enjoyment of many people's residential homes and the environment should not be destroyed simply for the sake of mineral exploration which profits only a handful. This project must be STOPPED immediately & relocated elsewhere (& not in some family's backyard).
