As a person who grew up in Ontario and spent many summers in Temagami on canoe trips, I implore you not to approve the new application from Flag Resources for mineral exploration at Wolf Lake.
As you know, Wolf Lake is surrounded by the largest known old growth Red Pine forest. I believe that, in this era of climate change and environmental degradation, every possible effort must be made to preserve an ecosystem so special *there is nothing else like it in the WORLD*.
From a recreational and social perspective, this is a special area for many Ontarians, Indigenous people, and visitors. I was lucky to spend 2 nights on Wolf Lake this past August, and in these unsettling covid times it was an essential part of my ability to get back into nature and care for my mental health. I know this is true for thousands of people.
It's time for this region to be permanently protected as a provincial park. No more threats to Wolf Lake.
