There has not been enough communication to people in the surrounding area about the impacts of this quarry on nearby residents including the impact on business, particularly those on Bridge St and the nearby spa, that cannot possibly operate near a quarry. The impacts of this are far reaching. Truck traffic in the area will impact everyone including residents of Highlands East, who should also have a say in this decision but are very much unaware. I have not seen any indication that aggregate needs are not able to be met by the existing quarry. The partnership with Fowler, who are based in Muskoka raises questions as to why they are not partnering with a quarry in their own area. Perhaps they do not wish to destroy the scenic routes in the area where they reside and negatively impact tourism in their own area. I believe this will result in job loss, a loss in tourism dollars and environmental impacts from blasting near spring fed lakes, a significant increase truck traffic = pollution. There simply is no logical reason to bring a quarry to this location.
