The land bounded by Jenkinson Side Road, Fernbank Road, Dwyer Hill Road and the Canadian Trail was in 1996, as I understand, determined by the Regional Municipality of Ottawa Carleton that 'these lands should be excluded from mineral reserve designation.'

It has also been stated in Provincial Policy Statement, Policy 2.5.2.2 that 'extraction should be undertaken in a manner which minimizes social and environmental impacts'.

In my David to Goliath submission, the allocation of the above lands to aggregate extraction is in direct contravention of the above.

As a homeowner in the area, the area, the impact of allowing Crain Construction to go ahead with extraction considerably impacts at a minimal level, house property; increased noise pollution due to existing quarry traffic which can begin between 5.00am - 6.00am most weekdays; impact on rural water systems (a significant number of homeowners in the area use geothermal systems); small rural roads hardly support the present heavy traffic - to name a few concerns and this leads me to my question to
the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry - apart from the profit to Crain Construction why is Crain incapable of respecting the existing Policy Statement and why are you as a Provincial body entertaining this application?

To me, what is being excluded is everythinfg the initial policy was implemented
to protect.
