To whom it may concern,
As a life-long resident and farmer the decision to erect a waste disposal facility right next door is a major to concern to myself, my family, and my neighbours.
More specifically I worry that a waste depo this close to our farm will cause major adverse effects to our crops in the form of pests that would be attracted by the presence of the organic waste that plans to be stored at the facility. This in turn would effect the quality of our crops, which would lead to a loss quality of produce and force me to use more pesticides than what I normally use, which would ultimately result in a loss of income.
Another concern regarding the presence of the disposal facility is possible negative effect on property values. The range of odours from the waste and the sounds and sensations of waste delivery vehicles entering and exiting the facility would most likely make potential buyers apprehensive in their interest of our property.
In short, although such a facility will more than likely be built we, as neighbours, would appreciate some assurances that none of these concerns will come to fruition. I personally would be content if the building proper is placed as far back from Road 3 East as possible and any doors used to receive or pick up waste face away from our homes to reduce the amount of smell and noise as much as possible. I would also suggest some sort of natural barrier, such as a burm or dense tree-line, to be placed at the edges of the subject property to aid in the reduction of noise possibly preserve some of the natural aesthetic of the area.
Thank you,
