An amended Environmental Compliance Approval was issued to Summerhill Resorts Ltd. for approval of upgrades to the existing works for the treatment of sanitary sewage and subsurface disposal of treated effluent, from the existing Duck Lake RV Resort, located at 2612 Victoria Road 35 in the Village of Kirkfield, City of Kawartha Lakes.
The existing Duck Lake RV Resort consists of:
- 500 existing un-serviced seasonal sites
- one existing cottage and associated facilities, including:
- two existing comfort stations
- one existing pool
- one existing park office and maintenance building
- one new dumping station
The upgraded works will have a total maximum design capacity of 125,000 litres per day.
The approved upgraded works servicing the existing Lane 5 Comfort Station consist of:
- one one-compartment balancing tank, receiving raw sewage from the existing Lane 5 Comfort Station
- one two-compartment septic tank
- one existing concrete pump chamber
- one existing raised absorption trench leaching bed
The approved upgraded works servicing the existing Lane 11 Comfort Station consist of:
- four one-compartment balancing tanks, receiving raw sewage from the existing Lane 11 Comfort Station
- two one-compartment septic tanks, operating in series
- one balancing/bed dosing tank
- one upgraded raised absorption trench leaching bed
The approved works servicing the new dumping station consist of:
- two one-compartment septic tanks, operating in series, the first septic tank receiving raw sewage from the new dumping station
- one balancing/bed dosing tank, receiving effluent from the second septic tank
- one raised absorption trench leaching bed
The approved existing works servicing the existing cottage and office and maintenance building station consist of:
- one existing two-compartment septic tank
- one existing raised filter bed
The approved existing works servicing the existing gatehouse/office building consists of one existing one-compartment underground holding tank.

1. Prepare your application

What is considered
The appeal body will consider the following two questions in deciding whether to grant you leave to appeal:
- is there is good reason to believe that no reasonable person, with respect to the relevant law and to any government policies developed to guide decisions of that kind, could have made the decision?
- could the decision you wish to appeal result in significant harm to the environment?

This proposal is to amend the existing Environmental Compliance Approval No. 3-0787-99-006 issues for sewage works at the Duck Lake RV Resort (formerly Campinn on Duck Lake) located in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario.
The sewage works include upgrades to the existing sewage systems which service the existing 500 unserviced seasonal camp sites. The upgrades include the addition of septic tank and leaching bed capacity to service the existing sites and facilities.
