Decision details
Updated proponent name
All ARA consultations were undertaken using Greenwood Asphalt Products Ltd. proponent name.
Decision
Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) Licence No. 626053 was issued to Greenwood Asphalt Products Ltd. on November 20, 2020, subject to conditions specified on Schedule A (Prescribed Conditions). The licensed area is 36 hectares in size and allows the operation of a pit above the water table. The tonnage condition specifies a maximum of 100,000 tonnes of aggregate to be removed from the site in any calendar year.
A copy of the licence can be obtained by contacting the Ministry office and contact identified below.
Effects of consultation
No comments were received in response to the Environmental Registry notice. Two (2) letters of objection were received in response to the ARA consultation process. The objections were related to lack of zoning by-law, peer reviews of various component studies and various areas of concern related to hydrogeology, noise, vibration, haulage routes, dust, potential impacts to natural heritage, technical requirements of the site plans and concerns related to the Natural Environment Reports.
The applicant worked to address the objections by an application and approval of a zoning by-law amendment, providing additional information, and revising the site plan. All concerns were addressed at the end of the process.
