Effects of consultation
No online comments were received. Two written comments were received from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority in response to the circulation of the proposal under the Aggregate Resources Act. The comments raised the following concerns: identifying natural heritage features, improving natural heritage features, installing silt fencing/turtle exclusion fencing, ensuring Species at Risk Educational Program onsite, operational and rehabilitation features on the proposed site plan, information presented in the submitted technical reports, and groundwater quantity and quality (including thermal impacts).
The proponent provided additional information and revised the site plans to the satisfaction of both agencies who provided letters to confirm they had no further comment or concerns.
It is noted that as part of the proposal to increase the extraction area, aggregate extraction will take place within 50 metres of woodlands, hazardous lands, and lands deemed necessary for the survival of populations of a species of fauna or flora. A minimum buffer zone of 30m has been proposed between the extraction area and the woodland on site. As no site alterations will take place within this buffer, no measurable negative impacts are anticipated to the woodland, hazardous lands, or the lands deemed necessary for the survival of populations of a species of fauna or flora.
