This bill will not have any impact on the affordable housing crisis in Ontario. Simply building more suburbs on green land will have little if any impact on housing affordability. Lire davantage

I care deeply about housing. I've dedicated by 20 year career to working to alleveiate homelessness. Through that work, I know that there are more than enough opportunities for infill development in Hamilton. Lire davantage

I am an Ontario citizen, resident and voter and I strongly oppose this proposal that changes the Greenbelt Act Boundary regulation to remove approximately 7000 acres from the Greenbelt Plan area. This is the proposal described in ERO #019-6217. Lire davantage

I agree that Ontario needs more housing but not at the expense of the Greenbelt. Additional housing can be easily built within the boundaries of the urban centers surrounding the Greenbelt - density would simply be intensified to make room for additional houses. Lire davantage

I do not support removing any land from the greenbelt. It has been designated as protected in order to preserve for future generations. It cannot simply be removed as politicians see fit, our green space is more than politics. Once greenbelt it should remain greenbelt. Lire davantage

Keep the green belt as it is. I do not support any development on the green belt and think it's a terrible idea to build homes there. Sincerely a concerned ontario resident.

It seems disingenuous to position this change as removing a burden on municipalities when other parts of the Bill 23 proposal remove funding sources to municipalities, such as development charges. The Greenbelt should be a hard boundary to development, as it has always been intended.

My dad spent years petitioning for land to be added to the green belt to ensure that we keep our green spaces and protect our native species of plants and animals. It felt like we were finally making progress toward being responsible and caring for the small bits of nature we have left. Lire davantage

I oppose the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan. Municipalities such as Hamilton have already determined that they can meet housing needs/anticipated growth by increasing density within existing urban boundaries. Lire davantage

As a concerned citizen of Ontario and Hamilton resident, I am strongly against the Provincial Government's Proposed Amendments to the Greenbelt Plan. On February 28, 2005, the Greenbelt Act protected 2 million acres of prime agricultural and ecologically sensitive lands from urban development. Lire davantage
